openSermo’s been at SXSWi 2008 for 3 days. Man has it been wild. We haven’t had any time to post any of our the killer pics and videos. Trying to meet people and say coherent versus staring into a laptop. Should have some stuff coming out in the next few days. Also, a few new openSermo Shorts should be droppin soon. Stay tuned.
Here’s a pic of Ethan with Tim Ferris, author of The 4-Hour Work Week.
Sphere: Related ContentYesterday, we announced the addition of Danna Pycher to the openSermo family (intro video posted below). Danna is awesome! And we are ecstatic to have her on our side. Currently she’ll be broadcasting openSermo Shorts, but stay tuned: we’ve got some new ideas in the works.
These are exciting times for openSermo, our headcount has grown 100% overnight, were headed to SXSW next week and the momentum is picking up.
A big thanks to all our supportes, viewers, and friends.
Sphere: Related ContentAfter a bit of thought and some advice from our community we decided to give 60 Seconds a real home and a real set. Pictures below. We think this gives it a more professional, while still staying casual, feel. And it also gives some visibility to the name of the production. Let us know your thoughts. Just in case you love our older tiled openSermo backdrop, don’t worry, it will still be used for openSermo Shorts as well as other upcoming productions.
Were still working out the kinks, as you can see from our most recent 60 Seconds broadcast. But hey! Were getting there, were getting there!
Anyways, stay tuned, we got some more exciting news around the corner.
P.S. openSermo will be at SXSW, email us if your going, and we’ll meet up.
Sphere: Related ContentRecently, openSermo received an invitation (posted below) from a Producer at blogTV.com. It seems that they liked our content and were wondering if we would be interested in hosting a LIVE broadcast. Unfortunately, we had to turn them down, for now.
Currently, we are stretched pretty thin at openSermo and we just dont have the following to host a live broadcast. However, in the future, this is definitely something we could see ourselves undertaking. But for now, LIVE will just have to wait.

If you’re looking for Ethan’s personal blog, this ain’t the place. You’ll have better luck here. Sorry for any confusion.
This is the openSermo blog. Yes openSermo is an Ethan creation, but he’s not allowed to make himself at home here. Further details here.
Sphere: Related ContentOver here at openSemro, we’ve really been trying to nail down the categorization of the news that we cover. We want to merge simplicity of navigation with ease of high level categories. It’s obvious: you have to make a sacrifice of one to increase the other. The key is to make our content easy to discover, while not creating a content maintenance nightmare on our end.
On the top level we saw that basically every story gets categorized as US News, World News or Business News (only a few posts don’t have either US News or World News attached and are usually Business News stories). We also have the Military and Politics categories. To open it up a little more we’ve decide to classify whether its US Politics or World Politics. We also just added four new categories: Crime, Science & Technology, Global Warming, and Election ‘08. And for now this is where will stop the breakdown.
We will continue to streamline the categories as time goes on, trying to find the right fit, which may just never happen
If you’ve got any suggestions or ideas, please post’em in the comments.
Sphere: Related ContentWelcome to the grand opening of the openSermo Blog. If you dont know what openSermo is, well, I would suggest you take a look at this.
This blog is where we’ll be documenting our journey to create the News Network for the internet generation. And also addressing questions and concerns. In case your wondering: We decided to open a separate blog for all this, to avoid cluttering our parent site.
Stay tuned, we got some exciting things bubbling.
